Become a Guardian of Tulsa History

Tulsa Historical Society & Museum volunteers are known officially as Guardians. Guardians support our mission to collect, preserve and present Tulsa’s history by providing assistance to staff in daily operations and special projects. Service as a Guardian gives individuals an opportunity to broaden their knowledge of Tulsa’s history, work in a beautiful environment and join with a friendly committed group of people who share a passion for Tulsa’s history.

  • What does a Guardian do?

    Guardians serve as greeters and receptionists
    Guardians serve as docents
    Guardians develop programs
    Guardians present programs to children and adults
    Guardians provide outreach with offsite programs and walking tours
    Guardians conduct oral history interviews
    Guardians serve as good will ambassadors

  • What are Guardian benefits?

    Guardians go on regular field trips throughout the city
    Guardians hear guests speakers
    Guardians attend special social events
    Guardians learn about and present our unique Tulsa history!

  • Become a Guardian

    Guardians must be at least 18 and be available to work at least one three hour shift a month. Ongoing training and educational opportunities are provided. Please download a volunteer application and return it to the museum or call 712-9484 to request that an application be sent to you.
