Peggy V. Helmerich traded stardom in Hollywood to play a starring role in service to Tulsa. The annual award to distinguished American authors which carries her name has not only benefited the growth of the City-County Library System, but also placed Tulsa at the forefront of the American literary scene. Mrs. Helmerich’s warmth, wit, and grace are assets she willingly shares with the entire community.
