Although never intended as such the Dawes Rolls have become the “be all” and “end all” for citizenship in the Big 5 Tribes. How did we get to this place? Come and hear about the creation of the Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes (better known as the Dawes Commission) and the turbulent, if dystopian, machinations that led to the development of the citizenship rolls and the Land Allotment process here in Tulsa and throughout Indian Territory.
