Description: Barbara Marshall, Peggy Dyer and Tina Smith tell about their experiences in women sports before and after Title IX. As teens they played at school or in recreation centers, and in intermurals in the 1960s, but were unequal to male counterparts. Opportunities opened for them in college and post college years as they began their careers in athletics and education. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 opened employment opportunities. Then Title IX in 1972 opened educational and equitable opportunities in athletics. The two laws gave them the chance to achieve the credentials needed for their lifetime achievements.
