Description: Darrel May and John Brantly recall their professional experiences at Children's Medical Center. CMC provided total care for children's social, emotional, physical and educational needs. CMC was an umbrella encompassing inpatient and outpatient care. Decreased Medicaid funds caused a decrease of services. Referrals often came through the Lloyd Rader Center, Tulsa Boys Home, Whitaker Orphans home, and Francis Willard Home for Girls. In 1920s the Jr. League began a convalescent home for polio. Around 1926 Sunnyside School for Developmentally Disabled was added and by1962 the center provided other services.. The DX Sunray Research Center was purchased in 1974, but Children's Medical Center closed in 1999.

Subjects: Children's Medical Center at 53rd and Lewis. Move to DX Sunray Research Building near Skelly Drive, Services Provided included Developmentally Delayed Children, Med Tech, X-Ray Tec, Research, Psychology, and Biofeedback. CMC Closure was caused by decreases in State Medicaid funding.
