In 1905, a group of women formed Tulsa’s first study group whose purpose was to promote culture and education by the study of literature, arts, and subjects of interest to Tulsa. Members of the Tulsa Book Club do much more than read good books and have been doing so more than a hundred years. Members held Tulsa’s first art exhibit and participated in organizing the first Parent Teacher Association in Tulsa, established the Tulsa Historical Society, hosted the organizational meeting of the YWCA, and played a significant role in establishing the Tulsa Public Library
