The Tulsa Ship Modelers Society, a club devoted to building models of historic vessels, has built a model of the USS Tulsa, a patrol gunboat (PG-22) that served in World War II.  The club members  spent over 1800 hours building the model.

The model is roughly 5 feet long, made on a scale of a quarter inch per foot.  It took approximately two years to build the model from plans purchased from the Navy.  Because of the size of the model, the hull had to be carved by hand.

All of the deck fittings, work boats, etc were made by different members of the club.  Twelve members were involved with this effort.  The model is presently located at the Tulsa Historical Society.
