Got Art Deco?
Bring it to THS!

We're looking for a few good pieces in our first ever collection event on Saturday, May 17 from 1 - 3pm.

Specific items we're looking for include photographs, furniture, household items, clothes, and jewelry. Donated Art Deco clothes should be in good condition with minimal need for repair.  Photos of Art Deco architecture, especially in the streamline or PWA/WPA style, would be a wonderful addition to the THS photographic collection. Examples of these styles would be: the Delman Theatre, Brook Theatre, Hawks Ice Cream, Fire Alarm Building, Will Rogers Theatre and the Day & Nite Cleaners.

Please do not bring items such as newspapers from the Art Deco era, Central High yearbooks, or non-Art Deco items. The museum has a complete collection of the yearbooks and newspapers on microfilm. The afternoon will focus on growing our art deco collection for an upcoming exhibit.  Non-Art Deco items can be donated to THS at a later date and will not be accepted on May 17.

All donations are tax deductible. If you have any questions about an item you are considering for donation or have any other questions about the Art Deco Collection Afternoon, please contact Joshua Peck at 918-712-9484 or jpeck@tulsahistory.org.

At the Tulsa Historical Society, our events are an important part of who we are. Learn more about the Tulsa Hall of Fame, one of our annual programs. Each year, the Society recognizes five outstanding Tulsans from the past as well as the present. A gala dinner is held in the fall to honor Hall of Fame Inductees. If you'd like to receive an invitation to the Hall of Fame dinner, please contact us.

The Tulsa Historical Society also honors individuals who work behind the scenes for Tulsa's non-profit community. These Tulsa Hall of Fame Pillars provide the link between arts and service agencies and the major supporters of those agencies’ activities. In 2004 these individuals were a part of the First Annual Tulsa Honors Ceremony.

In 2001, Tulsa was the site of the Art Deco Congress, which provided a scholarly forum for the worldwide exchange and promotion of ideas and information about Art Deco. Take a walking or driving tour of Tulsa and Bartlesville Art Deco architecture.

Educational Programs are designed to help bring an understanding and awareness of Tulsa's history. Learn more about what we're doing or schedule a program for your school or civic group.

We also feature online exhibits.
